Dance Arts Director Alana Tillim was invited to choreograph Teen Star’s opening number for its Showcase Finale at the Arlington Theater in February 2017. She had the chance to work with a dozen local talented teens, including Dance Arts student Hunter Hawkins. This incredible vocal competition raises funds for local schools’ performing arts programs.

SB Dance Arts was PROUD to have three finalists in the 2016 inaugural year, and to have our own Frankie Harman take the title of Teen Dance Star 2016. She won a $1000 cash prize and the evening’s proceeds provided low income students in SB County scholarships via the Arts Mentorship Program.

I am her, she is me

SB Dance Arts Director Alana Tillim co-founded the Arts Mentorship Program with Steven Lovelace. She conceived the idea of an event that empowered mothers and daughters while nurturing this special relationship. With the devoted help of AMP Board Members and staff, I am Her. She is Me came to life
and held its first event in April 2017. Joined by the powerful mother-to-be Jenny Schatzle and activist/dancer/mother, Leslie Scott, Alana helped facilitate discussion at the luncheon and workshop at the Impact Hub. In alignment with the values at Dance Arts, Alana and was proud to help empowered mothers empower daughters.
